Troubleshooting loads for UPS
UPS is usually a flexible device, but there are certain types of loads that should not be connected to the UPS in the usual way. |
These are:
• Fluorescent lamps or gas lamps • Motors and Compressors • Air Conditioners • Laser Printers Each of these devices draws from their power supply either during normal operation or at startup. High current drives the UPS to overload, resulting in the output voltage of the UPS will definitely decrease, causing other critical components and equipment to be damaged. For example, the motor drive current is usually between 4 and 10 times its nominal value. |
Note: If the UPS is used to protect high-current loads such as laser printers and motors, the UPS system must have a stronger electrical specification.
