The effect of temperature on the battery

Most manufacturers set the proper temperature for the battery to operate at 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.

  The following figure shows how high temperatures decrease battery life and lead to a thermal runaway under acute conditions; this results in the production of oxygen or hydrogen and the accumulation of these gases in the battery cover. Bumps will appear. When faced with this situation, VRLA batteries will no longer be usable and must be replaced.

Note: Excessive temperature can cause the batteries to drain.

Low temperatures do not have much impact on battery life, but they do impair performance.

 
 

Above shows the shelf life of VRLA batteries at various ambient temperatures. As shown in the figure, a high temperature reduces the battery life.
